About
Amer Bukvić is the Acting Director General - Global Practice & Partnerships Directorate (DG-GPP) at the Islamic Development Bank.
Amer leads the Bank’s product and strategic direction in the areas of public and private financing and knowledge products. He builds upon the existing relationships with major developmental partners such as Arab Coordination Group, MDBs, UN system and private sector partners such as corporates, philanthropists, and foundations to augment the Bank’s contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Amer consolidates all sector and thematic level strategies to contribute to the formulation of Bank’s overall strategy.
Amer is also a seasoned Islamic Banker having served as the CEO of Bosna Bank International (BBI) for over 15 years. During which BBI was the fastest growing bank in B&H, positioning itself among the top six performing banks. BBI assets increased eleven times. He also co-founded the Sarajevo Business Forum (SBF), the largest international investment conference in South-East Europe, and Sarajevo Halal Fair.
Amer has a BA from the International Islamic University in Kuala Lumpur (1996), and a Master’s degree from the International University of Japan (1998). He completed postgraduate executive education with London Business School (2004) and Said Business School of Oxford University (2014).
