Managing Director, Head of EU Business Legal Allianz Global Investors Dr. Julia Backmann, LL.M. is leading a legal team at AllianzGI responsible for the legal coverage of Sustainable Finance, Institutional Clients, Distribution and Operations. Before joining AllianzGI in 2019, Julia spent seven years at BVI, the German Asset Management Association focusing on policy development, advocacy and implementation of regulatory developments concerning investment funds including MiFID II and Sustainable Finance. Julia also worked for more than eight years in international law firms. She is attorney at law (Frankfurt bar) and appears as speaker at conferences on a regular basis. She is a sherpa on the EU platform on sustainable finance, and chairs the German investment fund association’s sustainable investment committee and EFAMA’s distribution and client disclosure committee.
