About

Ambassador Luc Jacobs Special Envoy for Climate and Environment Prior to his current assignment Luc Jacobs served as Belgium’s Ambassador to Poland (with co-accreditation to Lithuania) (August 2018- July 2022) and to Ukraine (July 2014-July 2018). Luc Jacobs entered the Foreign Service in 1986. He served as Deputy Head of Mission in Dublin (1988-1991), Ottawa (1991-1995) and Prague (1995-1999) before returning to Brussels on a first home posting as Head of Unit for bilateral relations with the then EU-candidate countries (1999-2002). From 2002 till 2007 he held various positions at the Permanent Representation of Belgium to the EU, and worked for one year as advisor to the Belgian Secretary of State for European Affairs.From 2007 till 2011 he served as Consul-General in Casablanca.On his second home posting (2011-2014) he was Director for Economic and Monetary Union, European budget and European social, environmental and cohesion policy.Luc Jacobs holds a Master in Law from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and a post-graduate Master in Social Law from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. He is married to Anne Blontrock. They have five children.
