Christophe Béchu is Minister of Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion (since July 2022). He was Minister Delegate to the Minister of the Interior and the Minister of Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion, responsible for Local Authorities (from May to July 2022). Christophe Béchu was mayor of Angers from 2014 to 2022. In April 2018, he was appointed head of the French Transport Infrastructure Financing Agency (AFITF), a public establishment responsible for coordinating the financing of major transport infrastructure projects. He was reappointed by the President of the Republic in June 2021. From 2015 to July 1, 2022, Christophe Béchu chaired the National Observatory of Social Action (ODAS), whose mission is to analyze the actions of local authorities in terms of social cohesion. He was also a senator between 2011 and 2017 and a European deputy from 2009 to 2011. Elected in 1995, in Avrillé, he chaired the Department of Maine-et-Loire for ten years, from 2004 to 2014.
