Brazilian and Italian, Coordinator of the Environmental Sciences Laboratory and of the Center for Integrated Studies on Climate Change and the Environment, Full Professor of the Energy Planning Program at COPPE/UFRJ, Institute for Research and Graduate Studies of Engineering, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
Graduated in Electrical Engineering, and in Economics, M.Sc. in Systems Engineering, D. Sc. in Economics (EHESS, Paris, 1980).
Lead author of several reports of the IPCC, contributing since 1992 to the award of 50% of the Nobel Peace Prize to the IPCC in 2007.
Main interests include: climate change mitigation and adaptation, environmental impacts of energy projects.
