Lead Organizer, Fridays for Future Germany
Luisa Neubauer is a youth climate activist and lead organizer of the German “Fridays for Future“ movement. For five years now, Luisa and the movement brought hundreds of thousands of people to the streets. The TIMES listed her on the 2022 list of the 100next. In 2021, she and others won the landmark constitutional court ruling „Neubauer vs. Germany“ against the German government in a struggle for political climate action. She has met with president Macron, Angela Merkel and Barack Obama and published three best-selling books on the climate crisis. In October 2023, she was awarded the sermon prize in the “lifetime achievement” category as a prophetic voice, according to the jury, she “has played a significant role in shaping the awareness of the social task of preserving creation in the German-speaking world within just a few years.” Most recently she spoke in the Vatican.
