About

Ms Noloyiso Walingo is a Director for Climate Change, Environmental Planning, Governance and Information Management at the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs. She joined the Department on 01 July 2020 as a Director for Environmental Services for the KZN North Region, also leading Climate Change, Air Quality Management and Pollution and Waste Management. She brought to the team 15 years of local government experience, having set in motion the necessary systems that were required for the functionality of environmental governance in a municipality. Prior to being appointed General Manager: Economic Development and Environmental Services at Ugu District Municipality on the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal, Ms Walingo was a founder and Manager of the Environmental Services division in the same municipality. At her appointment as Manager: Environmental Services in 2007, she established and managed Environmental Services in the municipality until 2019 when she assumed her new responsibility of a General Manager. During her tenure at Ugu District Municipality, she enjoyed establishing strategic partnerships for the benefit of collaborative projects, learning exchanges, intergovernmental relations and networks that would benefit young environmental graduates for entry level employment, internships and business establishments. Prior to joining local government, Ms Walingo worked at the Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism (now Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Fisheries), Human Sciences Research Council, Eskom, and PondoCROP.
