Giacomo Grassi is a scientific officer at the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission, working on land use CO2 fluxes at EU and global levels. His work includes supporting the EU's Greenhouse Gas (GHG) inventory, contributing to designing and implementing EU legislation related to forests and climate, and conducting scientific analyses to assess the collective climate progress under the Paris Agreement. He is an expert reviewer of Land Use, Land-Use Change, and Forestry (LULUCF) inventories for the UNFCCC, author in the Global Carbon Budget and in various reports by the IPCC and the UNEP. Since 2023, he is a member of the Bureau of the IPCC Task Force on GHG inventories.
