About
Lars De Nul is part of the Directorate-General for Research & Innovation of the European Commission. He is the deputy head of unit of the 'Industry 5.0 and AI in Science' unit, which contributes to the directorate-general's forward-looking R&I agenda. It is primarily focused on the development of sustainable, resilient, and human-centric industry (Industry 5.0), and of artificial intelligence and other digital technologies, notably within the scientific domain. Lars holds master's degrees in Artificial Intelligence and Applied Computer Science, as well as a PhD in Philosophy. Before joining the European Commission, he worked as a project manager, business analysis and IT manager for the European Parliament, as a software researcher for the Flemish media industry, and as an academic researcher at the University of Antwerp.
