Carolina Basualdo is the current mayor of Despeñaderos, located in the heart of Argentina. She passionately believes that transformations are possible when we take responsibility for the world we have and the voices we represent. For the past three years, she has been the Mayor of Despeñaderos and she works every day to make our world a better place. She is convinced that this fight for transformation cannot be waged alone and in isolation, but together, including socially and culturally marginalized sectors that have been overrepresented in decision-making spaces: women, youth, and children. It is our duty not only to involve them in action but also to elevate their voices in global discussions and current debates. Currently, she is a Representative of the Forum of America of Mayors, GCoM. Being a messenger of the plurality of realities, achievements, and challenges is a profound source of pride, not only because of her love for the Americas but also because she Is part of the historic change that means that local governments have an active role in global debates.
