Hon. Cecily Mutitu Mbarire is the Governor, Embu County Government, Kenya, having been elected by the people through the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party of Kenya. She is also the Chairperson of the UDA Party the ruling party of Kenya under the Kenya Kwanza Coalition, the Chairperson of the Council of Governors Committee on Resource Mobilization, and Member of the Kenya National Dialogue Committee. Prior to this she served in the National Assembly of Kenya as a Member of Parliament from 2003 to 2022, and was one of the longest serving Female members, and among the few elected female MP ’s in a country where electing women to leadership positions is limited. As a Member of Parliament, she served as a Deputy Minister for Tourism and Deputy Minister for Transport , a Member of the Energy Committee in the National Assembly, as well as a Member for Agriculture and Livestock Committee. She also served in the Committee on Appointments, the Committee on Procedure and House Rules, the Committee on Delegated Legislation, the Committee on Legal Affairs and Administration of Justice, and Member Constitutional Implementation Oversight Committee. She has also served as Majority Deputy Chief Whip, of the Kenya National Assembly. Hon. Mbarire has also served as the Chairperson of the Kenya Women Parliamentarians Association, and Treasurer the Kenya Young Parliamentarians Association, a Member of the Parliamentary Network on Family Planning and Reproductive Health and served as Secretary, Amani Forum – Kenya Chapter; A regional peace initiative for East and Central Africa Parliamentarians. She also served as Member of Parliamentary Network on World Bank, Kenya Chapter, and a Board Member, Youth Agenda. She is very keen on matters Reproductive Health, Agriculture and Energy, and an avid mobilizer of community on matters related to Climate Change and Community Development Initiatives. She Holds a Global Executive Masters in Business Administration from United States International University, a Bachelors of Arts in Economics and Sociology, from Egerton University, Kenya and a host of other Strategic Leadership and Management Certification in Kenya and internationally.
