About

Vanessa Vovor is Project Manager at GIZ for the Covenant of Mayors in Sub-Saharan Africa (CoM SSA) project, where she where she supports Sub-Saharan cities in their fight against climate change and their efforts to ensure access to clean energy. In her current role, she leads the activities implemented in Nigeria and acts as the lead for gender mainstreaming in the initiative. Involved in CoM SSA since its first phase in 2018, Vanessa has a versatile background spanning project management, urban governance, climate action, gender equality, and human rights. She has experience in overseeing project consortiums, country portfolios' implementation and teams across Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, and Europe for intergovernmental and non-profit organisations. Throughout her career, Vanessa has demonstrated a profound commitment to fostering social inclusion and equity, particularly through policy recommendations, stakeholders engagement, and human capacity development within urban climate governance and gender mainstreaming. Vanessa Vovor holds a dual Master's degree in International Relations from the Université libre de Bruxelles (Belgium) and Tongji University (China).
